With the emergency preparedness expertise of Global Consulting, Baptist Housing Ministries’ communities for the elderly are now better prepared to respond and recover from disruptions to essential services such as security and resident care. This year-long project has seen a number of improvements to Baptist Housing’s various emergency response plans, as well as a comprehensive review of business continuity practices both at a local and corporate level.
During the first phase of work, Global worked closely with all of Baptist Housing’s facilities to ensure a common emergency planning standard. In addition, a review of business continuity planning in Baptist Housing communities, by way of a business impact analysis process, was conducted. Following this work, Global helped to exercise and educate Baptist Housing staff on emergency response best practices by training to implement an Incident Command System (ICS), crisis communications procedures, threat-specific responses, and site recovery principles.
Baptist Housing Ministries manages 13 housing communities across British Columbia ranging from independent seniors residences to complex residential care homes. The organization employs over 300 staff and provides housing for approximately 1,300 residents. Both Global and Baptist Housing were very pleased with the outcome of this engagement and look forward to continuing their relationship in the future.
