
Dr. Allan Holmes, President and founder of Global Medical Services and Global Consulting, is a fellowship trained Emergency Physician. Currently, Allan continues to develop innovative educational programs while overseeing a number of complex health services projects both within Canada and recently on an international basis.
He has designed numerous customized educational programs to address specific clients’ health education needs, including Global’s AED program, a series of Critical Intervention Workshops for the spectrum of healthcare providers: from first aid providers to physicians. Recently he has designed a procedural sedation course tailored to the needs of outpatient facilities.
Allan, along with his team, provides medical direction and support to over 200 clients, including Fire Departments, Private and Public Corporations. In addition, Allan leads a medical team providing 24/7 telemedicine support for Global paramedics working in the isolated oil and gas camps in Northeastern B.C. Specific to this project, Allan has overseen the development of an innovative on-site drug and alcohol testing program; the first of its kind.
Allan provides consulting support to several health care groups in the areas of physician engagement, system analysis and design, and hospital emergency preparedness. Examples of recent projects include the Surrey Memorial Triage Improvement Project, the Abbotsford Regional Scanning Project and the creation of a Health Care Framework for Al Gharbia region of Abu Dhabi.
Over the past 5 years, Allan has been a driving force behind the implementation of Emergency Protocols and Guidelines through his work as a key member of the Provincial Health Services Authority, Emergency Department Protocol Working Group. He is also a key member of the current team looking at how to improve the care of Stroke Patients across B.C. through his facilitation work to create a BC Clinical Leadership Statement on the management of Acute Stroke.
