
Global’s Director, Margaretha Lundh made a site visit to meet with Chief, Council and local first response agencies to better understand their needs and ensure their specific concerns were addressed. Margaretha and her colleague Laurie Vaughan also held a workshop to define the primary emergency response roles of band staff.
The subsequent plan adopted an “all hazard” approach for community roles while including hazard specific information and response strategies. To enhance the overall safety of these communities and give greater structure to the preparedness process, Global also provided a list of recommendations for future preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery initiatives, terms of reference for a emergency preparedness committee and an additional binder with support documents such as job action sheets and site/Emergency Operations Centre forms.
